Curiously, we all know about air conditioning and solar panels, but how often do we come across the two as a combination? The answer is not often, which is why here at A&E Air Conditioning and Heating we decided it would be a good idea to run you through a few pointers for solar air conditioning.
Solar-ready air conditioning – this is an air conditioning system that comes as a package. It is a traditional air conditioning unit that comes with solar panels to economically and efficiently harvest the sun’s energy to keep your home cool on hot summer days. If there is one major advantage of such a system, it is that excess energy not used to heat or cool your home can then be used to power other electrical devices. Beyond that, any remaining electricity can be sold on to your utility company!
You need to do a little research to establish if your home is suitable for solar-ready air conditioning, or here at A&E Air Conditioning and Heating we can happily do that for you. First off you need to ensure you have an area on your roof, or in your yard, where you can put solar panels which will have unobstructed sunlight. Next you need to ensure that for the amount of energy you need to generate, you have enough space for the solar panels.
Finally, you just need to check if there are any local restrictions that do not permit the installation of solar panels.
It is useful to know that the U.S. government has a Solar Tax Credit, 25D, for homeowners who purchase and install equipment that uses solar energy to produce electricity. To find out more details on this, and the cost of having solar-ready HVAC installed in your home, why not give us a call and we’ll gladly come out and provide you with all the information you need.
